Accommodation

Unfortunately, the Student Counselling Service cannot assist you in finding accommodation.
It is difficult to find a place to live in the Netherlands, especially in and around Amsterdam. Single students can apply (maximum age 26 years) for a room in the VU student centre. However, there is a waiting list of approximately two years and rooms cost at least Euro 200 to Euro 250 a month. Married students have to find their own accommodation.
The university has no dormitory facilities. The best way to find a place to live is to stay with relatives or friends, and look for a more permanent place in the meantime. This may take some time, especially for families with children. Rent for a furnished 3-4-room apartment can vary from Euro 365 to Euro 680 per month.
