Masters in English

Several types of Master’s degrees are granted at VU University Amsterdam. One type is the regular Master’s where you obtain expertise in a particular area of study. Another type of Master’s is the research Master’s, which differs from the regular Master’s programmes in that it takes a more analytical approach and takes two years to complete. There is also a special group of Master’s programmes known within the Dutch system as topmasters. These are internationally oriented, often multidisciplinary programmes based on outstanding research at VU University Amsterdam.

Accreditation
All Master’s degree programmes of VU University Amsterdam are accredited by NVAO. The LL.M. programmes and UNIGIS accreditation-procedures are in process.
NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie) is the Accreditation Organisation of The Netherlands and Flanders.
NVAO is entrusted by law to accredit all existing bachelor’s and master’s degree courses and to validate new study programmes at government-funded higher education institutions as well as institutions approved (but not funded) by the Dutch government.
