Combined research specialisations
The Master’s programme in Biology gives you the opportunity to choose up to two of the three available research specializations: Ecology, Green Life Science and Brain & Behaviour. You can also combine your Biology research programme with a specialisation in policy, science communication or education. These teach you how to bridge the gap between science and society.
 
International orientation
Many students in the Master’s programme Biology go abroad for part of their studies. If you have specific ambitions which are difficult to reconcile with a traditional Master’s programme, then this wide-ranging course might be just the thing for you. You design your own curriculum, select your own work placements and choose your own thesis topic.

CHE Excellence ranking  for MSc in Biology The Master’s programme in Biology at VU University Amsterdam was awarded the CHE Excellence Group status. The CHE (Centre for Higher Education Development) has developed a 'Ranking of Excellent European Graduate Programmes'. The purpose of this ranking system is to assist prospective Master's and PhD students in finding the European university most suited to them.
