MSc Finance: Honours Programme Quantitative Finance

Widen your perspective

Internships
You can partially compose your own programme. Choose the electives that best suit your individual interests or get a good impression of the business you’ll be working in by going on an internship. Upon approval, your thesis project may be combined with an internship at a financial institution. The department has many links to the industry and we are located in the very heart of the Netherlands’ largest financial district (Amsterdam Zuidas).

Research Projects
Students are always very enthusiastic about our team research projects. Chosen from a range of academic and professional topics, you will pursue your own, individually selected topic and go through all the stages of solid and thorough academic research. Working in teams of three to four students, you will study a well defined area by reviewing relevant and current scientific and practical literature. You will experience considerable pressure to perform and you will face a steep learning curve. The rewards are tremendous, however, and you will revel in a feeling of intense satisfaction upon completion of the project.

Modellling
The modelling-oriented finance courses will help you become proficient in the newest modelling methods. Furthermore, you will also be taught to maintain a healthy academic scepticism regarding models and their inherent limitations. By combining expertise built up during training with an awareness of the limitations of financial tools, we ensure that our students are able to choose the right tools for the job, whether they are dealing with investment choice or risk mitigation.
