Study delay

Last updated on 8 December 2023
Seek help in case of study delay due to illness, pregnancy, or a board position.

During your studies you can experience a study delay due to various causes, which can cause problems with your planning. In case of study delay due to (family) circumstances, illness, pregnancy, a board position or for other reasons, please contact your academic advisor as soon as possible for guidance and planning your study.

Financial support

Study delay can be caused by, for example, the wrong choice of study, but personal circumstances can also play a role. If this is the case, please contact your academic advisor. You may be eligible for financial support. You can find information and the conditions on the webpage of the Profile Fund.

Make a study plan

In the event of illness, pregnancy, (family) circumstances or a board position, this can cause problems for the planning of your study. It is wise to make a study plan.

  • Make an appointment with the academic advisor, who can help you make a study plan.
  •  You also need the study plan when applying for financial support.

Academic advisor

The faculties at VU Amsterdam each have their own academic advisors. Therefore, please contact the academic advisor of your faculty.
