How can the World Wide Web contribute to the social and economic development in the world? Can the exchange of information and knowledge by African farmers via the Web contribute to the greening of the Sahel and to fight poverty? These and other questions concerning the World Wide Web and Social Development are discussed during the Dies symposium. This symposium is held in honour of the Dies Natalis, VU University Amsterdam's 129th birthday.
