Christian Studies of Science and Society (track of Philosophy (1 year))

Career prospects

The Master’s is an outstanding basis for all kinds of jobs in which you are required to make an active contribution to policy or formulating the standpoint of an organization. These organizations might include, but are by no means limited to, churches or Christian organizations. Other prospective employers can be found in the business world, in general NGOs, in the government sector or in higher education. Many of our former students now teach at institutes of higher vocational education or universities.

What qualities will you possess as a Master in Christian Studies of Science and Society?

  • You will have a talent for critical analysis, for formulating questions of substance and you will have the resourcefulness to find ways of answering such questions.
  • You will possess a strongly developed talent for synthesis: you will be able to make connections between issues and will be quick to discover the central themes within a subject.
  • You will possess highly developed communicative and discursive skills.
  • You will be ideally suited to work in which long-term policy and vision are developed, for example within companies and organizations.
  • You will have learned to recognize moral and philosophical aspects and understand how to bring them to the fore.

The Master’s programme in Christian Studies of Science and Society enables you to give more depth to issues from your own discipline or field of work. At the same time, you will look beyond the boundaries of your own field. You will learn to conduct critical analyses of social and cultural developments and to determine your own position in this respect.

Continuing your studies

On completing the programme, you can start work on a dissertation leading to a PhD. In the Dutch university system, a Ph.D-student does not have to pay any tuition.
If you wish to work as a teacher, in some countries you will be required to take a separate teacher training course.
