In the Master’s programme in Medical Natural Sciences you choose one of the following specializations.

Medical Physics
In the specialization Medical Physics you will gain clinical-physical or medical-physical expertise and you will contribute to technological developments aimed at improving the quality of life. The research is devoted to clarifying the physical principles which form the basis of human functioning from cellular level to the level of the whole human being. Moreover, the research focuses on the development of new techniques and methods to assess function parameters in humans, both in normal and in pathological situations.

Molecular Clinical Diagnostics
In the specialization Molecular Clinical Diagnostics you will mainly focus on biomarkers and their application in clinical chemistry. The research is directed to the search for new biomarkers that can be used for the prevention, diagnostics en therapeutics of diseases. You will use a combination of state-of-the-art bio-analytical, immunological, medical, pharmacogenetic and pharmacokinetic procedures and methodologies.

Physics of Life
In the specialization Physics of Life you will deal with the challenging technological developments. The research focuses mainly on biochemical-biophysical studies of the activity of protein molecules in the living cell and on medical imaging. The interdisciplinary character of this specialization means that you will gain experience in both biophysics and biochemistry.

Medical Physiology
The specialization Medical Physiology entails a close collaboration between clinical researchers and basic scientists. In this specialization you will become an expert in clinically oriented research. This research focuses on the prevention, diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular complications. The specialization offers a number of in-depth courses which will prepare you for the practical training in the cardiovascular major and minor research projects.
