The VU University Medical Center has a general practice serving the local community. As part of the teaching hospital, it provides training and experience to medical students and conducts scientific research. VU students who live in Amsterdam (except Amsterdam Noord) or Amstelveen can register as patients.
To register as a patient, please make an appointment by calling +31 20 444 1400 any weekday between 08:00 and 12:00. If you already have a general practitioner in the Netherlands, you must first inform him or her that you are transferring your registration. You must also ensure that your health insurer knows your current address (in Amsterdam or Amstelveen). When you come for your first appointment, please bring:
- Valid ID
- Proof of insurance (policy or registration card)
- Your medical records (as given to you by your previous GP)
De Boelelaan 1131
1081 HX Amsterdam
Patients are seen by appointment only (except in urgent cases). You can make an appointment by calling +31 20 444 1400 between 08:00 and 12:00. If you would prefer to see a male or a female doctor, please inform the receptionist. Your preference will be taken into account but availability cannot be guaranteed.
NB. Students living on Uilenstede or Laan van Kronenburg can also register with the local GP: Huisartsenpraktijk Kastelenbuurt
Where do I go when I want to visit a dentist?
All students of VU Amsterdam can register with ACTA. This is the Academic Centre for Dentistry in Amsterdam (ACTA) which was founded through a merger of the two dentistry faculties of Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) and VU Amsterdam.
For further information, please check the ACTA website.
