VU Amsterdam established the Aurora strategic network in 2016 together with eight other renowned European research universities. These universities share VU Amsterdam’s vision and are convinced that cooperation will lead to an improved and more significant contribution to the society of the future. The Aurora network consists of academics, students and employees from all of these universities working together across various areas of expertise, such as social relevance and research impact, diversity and commitment, education innovation, digitization, internationalization, sustainability, energy and climate, and Human Life and Health.
There is also plenty of room for initiatives by students at affiliated universities. Due to this growing cooperation within Aurora, a dynamic exchange is effected between the VU’s internationalization policy and the Aurora agenda network.
The Centre for International Cooperation (CIS)
The Centre for International Cooperation (CIS) coordinates projects and conducts project activities in cooperation with partners including universities, government institutions and social organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. These externally funded projects focus on global societal problems and challenges. CIS gives an international spin on the university’s social involvement in a way that is in line with VU Amsterdam’s profile themes.
International business is all about partnerships and networks: “your network determines who you are”. Our international position and profile are partly determined by our choice of exchange partners. VU Amsterdam aims to build a portfolio of research universities that offer good education and are preferably in the top 200 of the most important international rankings.
