The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is governed by the Faculty Board.
The Faculty Board is responsible for teaching, research and valorisation activities and for the faculty's operations. The faculty board consists of the dean, director of operations, education portfolio holder and research portfolio holder. A student-assessor is an advisory member of the faculty board.
The School of Humanities has three academic departments that both teach and conduct research. The School's academic staff is assigned to the three departments. The departments are headed by a professor/department head.
The faculty administration is supported by the School Office. The School Office supports the school in teaching, research, policy, finance, personnel matters and information.
Within the School of Humanities, there are a number of committees and departments that represent the interests of staff and students. Students have a say in the organisation through the Faculty Student Council.
The School of Humanities is located in the main building of VU Amsterdam. The school's departments and services are located on the 11th to 14th floors. See the Contact and Directions page
