The Mennonite Seminary provides preparation for students who intend to become Mennonite pastors as well as continuing education for theologians and practioners in Mennonite congregations and institutions.
Within the Bachelor of Theology and Religious Studies program, students may follow a specialized track in line with the theological and pastoral needs of the Mennonite tradition, as a basis for further training at the postgraduate level, like the three year Master program to become a pastor. The seminary also organizes public lectures, courses, activities and events for all those interested in current themes in the fields of peace, justice, and other areas relevant to Mennonites, like Anabaptist-Mennonite History.
The Anabaptist-Mennonite tradition is known for its commitment to peace, community, and modesty. The seminary, in association with VU Amsterdam, offers a theological education that covers the history of the Anabaptist movement, systematic and practical theology, biblical hermeneutics, and ethics. The main focus is on themes such as peace theology and reconciliation. This program is open to all students who meet the requirements, including those from non-Mennonite backgrounds.
Students (and lecturers) of the Mennonite Seminary (and those who sympathize with it) gather once a month for vesper, a thematic conversation and a common dinner. It is a formation place, building and celebrating community. Together, they particiapte in yearly activities, like the European Mennonite Students of Theology Meeting (EMSTM).
