The AI research programme focuses on some fundamental areas from the field of AI, all of which have connections to the VU-wide Connected World theme: self-organising systems, machine learning, knowledge representation and social AI. We work in close interaction with application areas, such as e-science, finance, healthcare and social robotics. Three of the four research groups collaborate in the national research programme on Hybrid Intelligence, led by the VU.
