Quiet space (relaxation room)

Special relaxation rooms are available for students and staff whose chronic illness or disability requires them to take an occasional break.

The furnishings include a reclining lounge chair.

The relaxation rooms can be found at the following locations:

  • Main Building (1A-68)
  • Initium (0B12a)
  • W&N building (WN M514)
  • MF building (MF A-028)
  • New University Building (NU 6C-35)
  • Research building (1KB-TH1b)

Requesting access

  • If you are a student, you can book the relaxation room using Outlook. You need authorization on your VU card for this purpose, which you can obtain from your academic advisor (see also Studying with a disability)
  • If you are a member of staff, request access online using the form Change VU card permissions on the Service Portal
  • Are you not employed by VU Amsterdam and/or not in possession of a VUnet ID? Please use the External Service Portal

You are granted access to all relaxation rooms for a period of one year by default.

Booking a room

Once you have obtained access for the relaxation rooms, you can book a specific room. You can do so (with the exception of rooms in Initium) via your Outlook calendar. This manual explains how to do this. You can book the quiet space for a maximum of one hour at a time, but multiple times per day or week.
