The Talma Institute is the knowledge and expertise centre for research into healthcare, work and welfare at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Through transdisciplinary research, the institute contributes to the public goals of the Dutch healthcare system: accessibility, affordability and quality of care. The institute collaborates with healthcare providers, health insurers, regulators and policymakers.
Since February 2026, the institute has been directed by dr. Piet Stam, who also leads the research line "Incentives in Healthcare".
