This course combines theoretical and practical components, running simultaneously to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. The theory covers societal entrepreneurship, exploring concepts like CSR and feasibility assessment. The practical aspect involves creating a business plan for a socially relevant enterprise or transitioning to a socially responsible organization, utilizing the Business Model Canvas. The business plans created by the students will be evaluated by a panel of financiers, who will assess the plans based on their level of creativity and feasibility.

Entrepreneurship is an increasingly important subject for students and professionals, also in the disciplines of physics, chemistry and science, business and innovation. The growing complexity and accelerating dynamics of the involved technologies urge professionals to think, act, and communicate in an entrepreneurial way. This elective course responds to this urge and offers students from the UvA & VU JD MSc in Physics and Astronomy, the UvA & VU JD MSc in Chemistry, the VU MSc Science, Business and Innovation and the VU MSc the VU MSc Biomedical Physics and Technology the possibility to develop themselves in an entrepreneurial way. The course is also open for other students (after approval by the course coordinators).
