Didactics (pedagogy) lies at the heart of teaching within the context of a course or subject. Together with content, learning objectives and assessment, it forms the backbone of good teaching. Teachers at the VU are primarily introduced to didactics through the Basic Teaching Qualification (BTQ). On these pages you will find an overview of sources and starting points for retrieving that knowledge, but also to strengthen it.
The most important concepts for good didactics
- Constructive alignment: matching learning objectives, teaching methods and assessment
- Active blended learning: ensuring that students actively process learning material and work together
- Flipped Classroom: ensuring that students are well prepared for educational sessions
- VU MIXED model: ensuring a safe and inclusive learning climate and making use of the added value of diversity
- Blended learning with ICT: using digital resources to support education
- Specific educational models such as Challenge based learning, Team based learning etc.
