Job description
The department Health Sciences is using an evidence-based and interdisciplinary approach to improve health and healthcare. We will realize this through independent education, research, and valorisation of research results. The department Health Sciences is looking for a tenure-track assistant professor (UD) in Epidemiology.
 
Your duties
The candidate is expected to deliver high quality teaching in the pre-master Health Sciences in courses on Research Methods and Biostatistics. We expect the candidate to develop a research line in one of the specialties of our department: prevention, nutrition, lifestyle & youth, musculoskeletal disorders, health technology assessment and research methods in health sciences/epidemiology. The candidate will also be involved in the supervision of BSc and MSc internships
 
Requirements
The candidate is expected to have:
• a PhD
• a strong proven track record of international publications
• a strong proven track record in the acquisition of external funds
• a proven capacity to motivate and guide students at BSc/MSc/PhD level
• proven experience in or strong affinity with teaching
• a basic qualification in teaching for Dutch universities ('BKO'), or be willing to acquire this qualification after appointment
• excellent social skills, and be an excellent team builder and collaborator
 
We would like candidates to briefly describe in their motivation letter what will be the focus of their research line and how a methodological component will be embedded in their research.
 
What are we offering?
A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of € 3637.- and a maximum € 4978.- in accordance with salary scale 11, depending on your education and experience. The job profile (Universitair docent 2) is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0.8 FTE.
 
The initial employment contract will affect a period of 5 years, with the possibility of extension to a permanent position and a promotions to the next level of Universitair docent 1 .
