Martin Luther King Lecture 2019
We cordially invite you to the lecture on 28 November from 7:30pm to 9:15pm that will be held in the Aula of the Main Building, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
11/05/2019 | 11:41 AM
The lecture will be devoted entirely to game-changers. Young people who put their heart and soul into actually doing something about the major challenges of our time – issues like migration, social inequality, waste reduction and climate change. Their actions are helping to mobilize the public and politicians.
Martin Luther King was a game-changer too. His non-violent struggle against racial inequality and racism changed the world and encouraged millions of people to stand up against injustice.
The main speaker will be Samira Rafaela of the Dutch Democrats 66 party and youngest member of the European Parliament ever. She knows from experience how social inequality can have an effect on your life. Rafaela will address what can be done about this in a European context. After her lecture she will join the talk show panel hosted by Shay Kreuger, where a number of young game-changers will use photos and videos to talk about their ideals and actions.
See the programme here. Admission is free of charge but registration is required. The programme will be in Dutch.
As part of the Martin Luther King Lecture, there will also be a Spoken Word Contest. You can participate until November 11th.
