The fee includes:

  • Two week course;
  • Exclusive content for a limited number of students;
  • Transcript of records with a maximum of 3 ECTS (European study credits);
  • Certificate of attendance after completing the course;
  • Individual/group guidance from professor;
  • Interactive classes;
  • Full support from the summer school team;For on-campus courses and if pertmitted: airport pick-up and welcome activities.

Scholarships

The application deadline for the Academic Excellence Scholarship has passed. It is no longer possible to apply for this scholarship.

For your scholarship application we request the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae/Résumé (CV) stating your educational background;  
  • An essay which expresses your motivation and activities to make a positive contribution to your community/the society (350-500 words). Please indicate:
    -    Why participation in this specific VU Amsterdam Summer School course is relevant to your personal, professional, and academic goals;
    -    How you will use this knowledge to make a positive impact in the future for yourself and your community.
  • A recent transcript of records (a print screen is sufficient) which shows you have a grade point average of at least 85%. For example, if the highest possible mark is a 10, you need to have an average of at least an 8.5. We will take into account the differences in grading cultures.
  • Professional Letter of Reference Including:
    -    His/her experience working with you (either in an academic, professional, or volunteer setting)
    -    His/her motivation for recommending you for the scholarship
    -    Complete contact information 

The Academic Excellence Scholarship covers the tuition for one course and accommodation in one of our accommodation options (if needed). Please be aware that it is not possible to select more than one course for the scholarship. If you are interested in an extra course in a different session then please apply for this course via our regular application and payment form. 

Application procedure

Please be aware that it is only possible to select one course. 

The results of the scholarship selection will be announced mid-April. Since we have a limited number of scholarships available for a large number of applicants, we suggest - if possible! - to complete your payment at the time of your course application to guarantee your place in the course. However, if you are not able to come without the scholarship, you can just wait until the announcement. If you would like to come, regardless of whether you will be granted the scholarship, it is best to secure your place in the course by completing your payment. If the scholarship is granted to you, the tuition and accommodation fee will be reimbursed.

Please send a short video where you introduce yourself (approx. 30 seconds-1 minute) and some examples of your photo work to [email protected], please use 'Photographer Scholarship' as subject line. It is important to bring your own camera to Amsterdam. Deadline for applications is 15 May 2021.

What do we offer:

What do we expect from you:

  • Five vlogs of your time at VU Amsterdam Summer School
  • One final video covering: day in the life, your experience at VU, favorite place in Amsterdam, what do you do in your free time, etc.
  • Running the official VU Amsterdam Summer School Instagram page (together with other scholarship winners) 
  • Participation in the social programme (free of charge)
  • Attending the photographer/videographer kick-off meeting

It is important to bring your own camera to Amsterdam. Deadline for applications is 15 May 2021.

This year, VUvereniging is offering 56 scholarships to Bachelor and Master students attending VU Amsterdam who are interested in joining VU Amsterdam Summer School in July 2021. The scholarships are worth €500 per applicant meaning that applicants only pay €150 for online or €350 for on-campus courses! All interested students can apply for the scholarship through this link. We will award the scholarship on a first come first serve basis. If you apply and pay, we will check if you meet the requirements for the course you selected (requirements are stated on the course websites). If you meet these requirements you will be awarded the scholarship. The deadline to apply is 1 May 2021 or for as long as there are scholarships available which might be before this day.
In order to apply for the EDU4U/ VUAF Scholarship, you need to be a student at EDU4U or UAF. These organisations aim to help students who have recently arrived in the Netherlands as a newcomer/refugee find their way in the Dutch academic world and on the labour market. If you are a student at a similar Dutch organisation, you can contact us to see whether you can also apply for this scholarship.

It is important to fill out our online scholarship application form before 28 April. For your scholarship application we request the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae/Résumé (CV) stating your educational background;  
  • A letter starting with your personal details, and details regarding the organisation you are connected with (UAF/EDU4U) and the details of a contact person at that organisation;
  • Describe more about yourself, your (academic) background and future aspirations (250-500 words);
  • A paragraph that describes your motivation for joining the course (350-500 words). Please indicate:
         - Why participation in this specific VU Amsterdam Summer School course is relevant to your personal, professional, and academic goals;
         - How you will use this knowledge to make a positive impact in the future for yourself and your community.

The VU4U/VUAF Scholarship covers the tuition for one course and accommodation in one of our accommodation options (if needed). Please be aware that it is not possible to select more than one course for the scholarship. The results of the scholarship selection will be announced mid-April.

Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)

Unfortunately the application deadline to the Orange Knowledge Programme has passed. It is no longer possible to apply for this scholarship.

The Orange Knowledge Programme contributes to a society’s sustainable and inclusive development by providing access to education and training for professionals and organisations in technical vocational education and training (TVET) and higher education. It is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of its development cooperation policy. The subsidy programme is managed by Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organisation for internationalisation in education. It offers funding for long-term, demand-driven partnerships between Dutch knowledge institutions and organisations in 19 participating countries, as well as individual scholarships and Tailor-Made Training courses in all 53 selected countries. The €195 m, five-year programme ends mid-2022, enabling tens of thousands to change their future. From the Dutch development cooperation policy, 4 priority themes have been selected on which to focus in the programme: Food and Nutrition Security; Water, Energy and Climate; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; and Security and Rule of Law. Cross-cutting themes in this programme are inclusion, employability and environmental sustainability.

Target group Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarships

  • You are a professional and a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the OKP Country list valid at the time of application;  
  • You have a current employer’s statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided;  
  • You must not be employed by an organisation which can be expected to have their own funds for staff development;  
  • You must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established (if applicable);

How to apply to the Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarships

In Delta you will have to answer these three questions:
- What is the issue or problem you want to address in your country?
- How will this course enable you to address this issue?
- How will you address this issue with your position within your organisation?
