KNAW Young Academy Members

In 2005, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences founded The Young Academy for young researchers who have obtained their PhD within the last ten years, who have already proved themselves as scientists and whose academic interests cover a wide field.

In addition to his clinical work as a psychiatrist at UMC Utrecht, Christiaan Vinkers directs a productive line of research that focuses on factors that influence vulnerability and resilience of the brain.
Alexandru Iosup 2019
Alexandru Iosup has an international pioneering role in the field of "distributed systems": computer systems and especially their programs that consist of different parts that can be executed simultaneously and far apart.
Barbora Hola 2017
Barbora Holá is associate professor of International Criminal Law and co-director of the Center for International Criminal Justice. She investigates penalties for international crimes.
Hanneke Hulst 2017

Hanneke Hulst is a researcher at the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience of VUmc. She conducts research into cognitive disorders in people with multiple sclerosis.

Kristine Steenbergh is assistant professor in English Literature. Her research activities concern the cultural history of emotions. Kristine founded the Environmental Humanities Center.
Jeroen de Ridder researches the role of knowledge and science in society. At this moment he conducts research on the acquirement and use of knowledge in democracies.
