Academic English Lecturer and Materials Developer
Kathy has worked in English-language education at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since 2003, where she has taught academic writing courses and workshops for students in the School of Business and Economics. In 2025, she joined the Academic Language Programme (ALP) team, where she contributes to the development of English-language learning materials for students and teachers, with a focus on academic writing, communication skills, and AI literacy in education.
After moving to the Netherlands from the United States, she founded Common Link, an independent language and communication training company where she works with a wide variety of businesses and educational institutions in the Netherlands. Through this work, she also teaches English at the Politieacademie (Netherlands Police Academy). She is co-author of two English-language textbooks published by Boom uitgevers.
