On the Roof Film Festival 2015

      
De nieuwste films zien uit de wereldcinema? Luisteren naar bijzondere voorgesprekken met wetenschappers en gastsprekers op een unieke locatie? Kom maandag 31 augustus tot en met vrijdag 4 september naar het On The Roof Film Festival op het dak van de Vrije Universiteit, met spectaculair uitzicht over de stad! Het volledige programma is dit jaar volledig Engelstalig of Engels ondertiteld.

Festival theme

Your aspiration is to contribute to society, but do you get that chance? You're young and talented and grab every opportunity for self-development. There's enough content to compare self-development within our own society and elsewhere in the world.

General program
At the beginning of the evening there is an opportunity to have a meal, the menu of the day is inspired by the country of origin of the film! Order of events for each evening:

17.00           Roof open: drinks, food, and dj sessions
20.15           Niña Weijers interviews the guest of the evening 
21.00           Film
22.30-23:00 End

Nina WeijersNiña Weijers is the host for this years' introductory talks. Niña is a young promising writer, famous for her novel De consequenties (The Consequences). She is journalist/publicist at the weekly newsmagazine De Groene Amsterdammer and is the VU Vrije Schrijver 2015/2016. Niña will interview a special guest prior to each film screening.

The film is set in Laventille, a poor region in Trinidad & Tobago where crime and lawlessness are the order of the day. Galofré connected a group of young people with poetry, painting, music and dance and gave them digital cameras to record their personal experiences. Read more...
