Lecturers at universities of applied sciences work in a dynamic and demanding environment in which they benefit greatly from being able to rely on a strong didactic foundation in programme design, the teaching practice, and the supervision of students. This degree programme is aimed at obtaining the teaching qualification for lecturers in universities of applied sciences (in Dutch, Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid or BDB). Universities generally expect all staff members with teaching duties to have this qualification in order to obtain a permanent contract of employment.
Who is this aimed at?
This training programme is aimed at beginning or current lecturers at universities of applied sciences who do not hold a degree in education. In order to participate you must have a contract for a position of at least 0.4 FTE as a lecturer at a university of applied sciences during the period in which you take the course. Dutch speaking lecturers who want to take this programme, are required to teach in English.
To test your skills and competencies, it is necessary that you are able to perform the following tasks during the degree programme:
- teaching practice (teaching)
- supervising students in their learning process, individually or in groups, for example in the role of academic career coach or supervising interns or graduation assignments
- course design, which entails designing or redesigning a course or part of a course
