Law beyond the state
Can European and international law help address the challenges of our time, such as climate change, migration, new technologies, and cultural conflicts? How can international law bring order and justice to global relations? How does the EU work, and how does it affect life and government in Europe?
In this track, you will explore legal frameworks that go beyond national borders. You will study the foundations of European and international public law and examine how these legal domains complement and sometimes conflict with each other. How do they contribute to solving cross-border challenges such as climate change, migration, inequality, technological transformation, and war? And how do they relate to national legislation and democratic decision-making? You will investigate the role of law in a globalising world and seek to understand tensions between sovereignty and democracy.
