Digital and Science Paths in Archaeology
Are you interested in modern-day archaeology? Would you like to find out more about digital archaeology or environmental archaeology and forensic archaeology?

Then join the minor in Archaeology Today.

Admission and administration

  • Admission

    The minor Archaeology Today is open to students from the Bachelor’s programmes Heritage Studies, History, Earth and Economics, Earth Sciences and Archaeology.

    Please note that some courses are offered in the second semester. 

  • Registration

    This minor is offered by Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA). VU Amsterdam and UvA work together within ACASA. 

    This ACASA minor has a limited capacity (15), and placement will happen on a first-come, first-served basis. We advise you to apply for this minor at the UvA. More information can be found here: Minors Faculty of Humanities - University of Amsterdam (uva.nl)

    VU students (not ACASA): please register for this minor at UvA and sign up for the UvA courses via GLASS. Placement in the courses will be guaranteed if you have been accepted into the minor, and you register for the UvA courses during the course registration period. Please note that the course registration periods at UvA differ from those at VU Amsterdam. 

    ​The courses Science in Archaeology 2, Environmental Archaeology and the Anthropocene and Advanced Digital Archaeology are the courses taught at VU. You'll need to register for this courses via the registration module via VU.nl.

    Other students: If you are not a student of VU Amsterdam or University of Amsterdam, please register for this minor at UvA and sign up for the UvA courses via GLASS. Placement in the courses will be guaranteed if you have been accepted into the minor, and you register for the UvA courses during the course registration period. 

    You also need to register at the VU as an elective course student in order to register for the courses taught at VU.
