Digital Humanities and Social Data Analytics

Did you know that everything can be turned into data? Ever wondered how you can apply your disciplinary knowledge in a digital setting?

Then the minor Digital Humanities and Social Data Analytics is for you. The minor is interdisciplinary and welcomes computer science students, social and political science students and humanities students of all disciplines. All courses are taught in English and focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning. The minor is open to exchange and Semester in Amsterdam students. 

Admission and registration

  • Admission

    The minor Digital Humanities and Social Data Analytics is an interdisciplinary minor, welcoming especially computer science students, social and political science students and humanities students of all disciplines. All courses are taught in English and focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning. 

    • Recommended: interest in digital methods and willingness to collaborate in diverse groups.
    • Recommended background knowledge: Basic Programming Skills (Python)

    The minor is open to exchange and Semester in Amsterdam students.

  • Registration

    The minor in Digital Humanities and Social Data Analytics is a university minor, which means that you do not need permission from your own Examination Board, except when you don't study at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

    You need to register for the courses whitin this minor. You can do this in the registration module on VU.nl. Take a look at the schedule for the course codes and pay attention to the registration deadlines.

    For registering for VU Amsterdam courses, you will need to enrol as a guest student at VU Amsterdam for a Bachelor’s degree programme of the Faculty of Humanities.
