Professional Dutch

The evening course Professional Dutch is for non-native speakers who already have a good command of the Dutch language, but want to bring certain (academic) skills to a higher level.

If you work in the Netherlands, knowledge of the Dutch language is indispensable. A good command of the language gives self-confidence, contributes to smooth cooperation and enables you to express yourself carefully in conversations and discussions. The course content focuses on language use in a professional environment, such as in university research (PhD, post-doc) or when working in a business or civil society organisation.

Professional Dutch 1 and 2 in a nutshell

  • For advanced students
  • Choice of two modules, from B2 to C1
  • Starts twice a year
  • Sixteen weeks of lessons per module
  • Lessons once a week on Wednesday evenings
  • Up to 5 hours of self-study per week
  • Focus on listening and speaking skills
  • Personal coaching

For whom?
The evening courses Professional Dutch 1 and 2 are semi-intensive courses (16 weeks, one class a week) for people who already have a good command of the Dutch language on B2 level (NT2 Staatsexamen II) and would like to improve their language skills for the purpose of career advancement or higher education. For example, you are expected to write formal letters, essays, theses, or to give a presentation.
