In a socially safe working environment, there is no room for (cyber)bullying, stalking, doxxing, discrimination, sexual harassment, intimidation, aggression and violence. But what do you do if it happens to you—or if you witness it happening to someone else? Do you ignore it? Look the other way? Or do you take action? And how do you respond if someone addresses you about inappropriate behaviour? Are you open to that?
Speaking up about and addressing inappropriate behaviour is essential, though not always easy. It requires the willingness to engage in uncomfortable or difficult conversations, and respect for differences—for instance, in cases of misunderstanding or unintended offence. That’s why it’s important that you feel free and supported to engage in open dialogue about interpersonal conduct and to raise concerns when necessary.
