JOIN-MIND (JOint INfrastructure for Mental health Outcome INDicators) is a global, secure data infrastructure to evaluate and improve mental health interventions for conflict-affected populations. JOIN-MIND connects NGOs, researchers, and global organisations by providing actionable insights on programme effectiveness and enabling real-world impact at scale.
JOIN-MIND develops a secure, federated data infrastructure to monitor and evaluate the effects of psychological and psychosocial interventions across humanitarian settings. Ultimately, the JOIN-MIND platform aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of care for millions of displaced individuals affected by conflict.
JOIN-MIND is an international consortium that aims to build an international, collaborative, and secure data infrastructure to monitor and evaluate psychological and psychosocial interventions for conflict-affected populations worldwide. It will enable systematic collection, harmonization, and analysis of outcome and quality indicators across humanitarian contexts. It addresses a critical gap: while evidence-based interventions are widely implemented, their real-world effectiveness is rarely assessed systematically across settings.
The JOIN-MIND platform enables the harmonisation and analysis of outcome and quality indicators from NGOs, academic institutions, and international organisations. Using a federated analysis model data remain securely stored at partner institutions while allowing joint analyses across datasets without sharing sensitive individual-level information.
The infrastructure integrates three domains: implementation outcomes (e.g. mental health and wellbeing), quality indicators (e.g. training and delivery characteristics), and clinical trial data from randomized controlled trials. Together, these domains enable comparisons of implementation outcomes across different MHPSS programmes delivered worldwide, in diverse settings, organisations, and populations. It also allows to compare effects observed in real-world implementation with those found in controlled research environments.
JOIN-MIND will work collaboratively with NGOs to improve the quality of monitoring and evaluation data and to support ethical data collection and data processing practices. Participating NGOs receive tailored reports describing that synthesise the outcomes of their implementation activities and their programme outcomes which supports programme improvement, staff learning, and accountability to donors.
