The multi-layered discussions that take place in our meetings have inspired new paths for research and co-creation of knowledge, and have provided input for research projects that we want to further develop in the coming years.

    The Engaged Scholarship and Narratives of Change project explores how academia and society collaborate to foster refugee inclusion, comparing insights from South Africa, the US, and the Netherlands through qualitative research and participatory engagement.

    The "Towards an Inclusive Work Environment!" project investigates workplace bias and its impact on job seekers and employees in vulnerable positions, using life stories and employer perspectives to offer actionable strategies for creating equitable opportunities.

    The "Towards a Structural Place for Refugees' Perspective and Vision in Policymaking" project aims to integrate refugees' experiences and insights into policy formulation, enhancing inclusivity and representativeness by advocating for refugee-led advocacy in the Netherlands.

  • 2incING Project

    The 2incING Project fosters collaboration between policymakers and refugee/migrant-led organizations to develop inclusive policies that reflect the realities and needs of these communities, featuring masterclasses, workshops, and international conferences to enhance dialogue and cooperation.

  • 2incING: Advocacy Academy Materials

    The Advocacy Academy masterclass, developed for the 2incING project by Elena Ponzoni, Halleh Ghorashi, Domenica Ghidei, and Mohammed Badran, equips policymakers to collaborate with refugee-led advocacy groups through experiential learning and knowledge exchange.

  • 2incING: Shadow Reports

    The "Shadow Reports" project, part of the EU-funded 2incING initiative, features national reports by refugee and migrant advocates from Croatia, Malta, Greece, and the Netherlands, advocating for inclusive integration policies and fostering dialogue with policymakers.

  • The House of Stories (Het Verhalenhuis)

    "Het Verhalenhuis," a partnership between Story Academy and Refugee Academy, helps refugees share their stories on stage and explore arts opportunities through storytelling workshops, podcasts, and performances, while also challenging existing migrant narratives.

    This small, refugee-led project contributes to making a first steps in articulating collectively the complexity of participating in art-based projects or research.

  • From Heart to Heart: Working on Community Sponsorship in the Netherlands

    The Van Hart tot Hart (From Heart to Heart) project evaluates the Community Sponsorship pilot of the Dutch Council for Refugees (VWN). In this program, citizens provide emotional, social, practical and sometimes financial support to resettled refugees. The Refugee Academy investigated the implementation, added value and challenges through interactive research with continuous exchange between researcher and implementers.
