Course duration: 8 September - 15 December 2026.
Number of classes: 15 language classes, 3 culture classes and a final test. The final test is not mandatory.
The final test is only required if you want to continue with Dutch courses after Basic Dutch on Campus. If you choose to take the test, there will be an additional class on Tuesday 26 January 2027 (6–8.30 PM) for revision and practice.

- Final test: Thursday 28 January 2027, 6 - 8.30 PM (+ extra class on Tuesday 26 January 2027)

The VU co-pays for this course: the normal price for students € 415. This only applies to international VU students. You will need proof of registration to qualify for the discount.
ECTS credits: 6
These 6 credits indicate the course load and they are extracurricular credits. To receive study credits for this course, you must meet the following passing requirements:
- Practical assignments
- You must complete at least six writing and speaking assignments at a satisfactory level. - Attendance
- You must attend at least 80% of all classes.
- If you are absent, inform your teacher.
- Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as an absence. - Homework
- All homework (online and written) must be completed on time. - Final assessment: language-immersion activity (taaldorp)
- Instead of a formal exam, you will demonstrate your A1-level Dutch skills in an interactive language-immersion activity.
If you fulfil these conditions, you will receive a certificate of participation showing the 6 credits. The faculty of the programme in which you are studying will decide whether these credits are awarded. To do so, take your certificate of participation to your faculty's educationial office.
